Hello:

I am Ms. Lucas, Instructional Coach/Reading Interventionist, and I entered the field of education 15 years ago, with the past six spent at Academy of Dallas. What I have enjoyed most is being around children because they have a way of forcing you to consider those “what next moments,” particularly in reading. Something as simple as a book can change a child’s life forever. Yet, to that child who struggles with reading, oftentimes, they feel that their options are very limited. Assisting teachers with pedagogy, classroom management, and providing ideas and educational tools is beneficial, but ensuring that students leave the classroom reading at a higher level than when they arrived is exceptionally rewarding. To quote the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, “There are many little ways to enlarge a child’s world, but the love of books is the best of all.” I could not agree more because it has proven to be true many times over.
